This 8-week program is focused on maximizing the potential of a tall, left-handed attacker by systematically building right-side dominance and middle-blocker versatility. The target outcomes are perfecting the 3-step left-handed approach, achieving reliable execution of quick attacks (1s, 2s, Slides), and enhancing attacking power and variety (line, cross, out-of-system). The key principles used are isolation and high-repetition practice to master specific tempo and body control, focusing on visual tracking and strong hand penetration for effective blocking, and integrating fast block-to-attack transition to develop game-speed versatility.
Establish the correct 3-step left-handed approach (right-left-right close). Film and critique arm swing mechanics for maximum extension.
Execute sharp, quick attacks from the front-side antenna (Front 1) and between the Middle/Right-Side (Front 2). Emphasize timing and speed.
Develop basic visual tracking of the setter/ball and perfect hand penetration over the net. Focus on forming a "firm roof" with flat hands.
Consistently execute the two core attacks from the right side: the power angle (cross-court) and the left-handed line shot.
Execute the Slide Attack (Back 1/Back Quick) effectively as a Middle Blocker option. Focus on jumping off one foot and hitting while airborne
Successfully approach and attack high, deep, and tight sets that challenge her timing and body control. Add power to attacks.
Combine effective blocking (read/penetration) with a fast transition to attack Front 1s/2s. Focus on quick hands-down-and-turn movement.
Review and execute all quick attacks (1s/2s, Slides) and perfect the powerful Left-Handed Cross-Body Attack (the shot that pulls her across her body).
